frequently ASKED QUESTIONS

WHEN SHOULD I START PLANNING FOR CARE?

Your CARE NEEDS will depend upon your medical and physical condition. Your doctor and healthcare team can provide a baseline of your health and care needs. Our initial step in CARE PLANNING is to establish a baseline of your current medical history, social history, and your care goals. We would adjust the Care Plan as things change. Perhaps you need to establish your legal documentations such as POLST FORM, DPOA, or will. IT IS NEVER TOO EARLY TO PLAN ahead for the "What if's."

WHAT IS THE COST FOR CARE AT HOME?

If you choose to remain at home, Cost will depend upon your personal care needs.  Extra care beyond what your family can provide will depend upon how many hours of help you need and your ability to pay privately for personalized services through licensed independent contractors or agencies.

Do you have long-term care insurance coverage?

WHAT ARE SOME ALTERNATIVE HOUSING OPTIONS? What if I NEED MORE CARE?

Depending upon your healthcare team's assessment and recommendations, there are options in the local area you choose. Your Elder Care Consultant can guide you regarding planning for more care.

Alternative housing options include independent to skilled nursing/total care. In Seattle area, there are independent retirement, Assisted Living, Adult Family Homes, and Skilled Nursing Facility.

DOES MEDICARE PAY FOR CARE?

Medicare pays for medically necessary skilled services or licensed professionals such as MD, RN, PT, OT. They do not pay for respite or 24-hour long-term personal caregivers at home or in care facilities.

ARE THERE HOUSING OPTIONS FOR ALZHEIMER'S CARE?

Depending upon your medical doctor and healthcare team's assessment and recommendations, we can help you explore an appropriate setting that will accommodate your loved one's specialized care needs. Available options include: Assisted Living, Adult Family Homes, or Skilled Nursing facilities specializing in Alzheimer's care.
